In addition to oral calculation, applied problems began to appear in first grade mathematics. This 100-question series of graphical application questions specializes in the three-step process of “reading — column — calculation”, helping children to establish the thinking of application questions, and accompanied by answers to facilitate parental counseling.
The first grade application problem is not difficult to calculate, it is “I don’t know whether to add or subtract”. Many children scribble expressions when they see a question, and the root cause is that they do not find the quantitative relationship in the question. This exercise is dedicated to this step.
Three steps to apply problem solving
Step 1: Read the question and find out who and who was said in the question (known conditions); Step 2: Think about the relationship, “total” “combined” with addition, “left” “flew away” “ate” with subtraction; Step 3: Calculate in columns and write down the answer (with units). If you are skilled in this process, you will not be afraid to apply the title.
Practice Schedule
- Do 10 lessons a day, read questions first and then write;
- Have the child say “why add/subtract” before writing the formula;
- Answers must be in units (individual, only, original, etc.);
- After checking and correcting the answers, explain the reasons for the mistakes.
Tips for parents
Don’t just tell your child the answer during coaching, ask “What do you think?” It doesn’t matter if the child says it wrong, let him say his thoughts, and the parents will know where he is stuck: did he not read the question? Still won’t judge the addition or subtraction? The symptomatic medication is effective.
If you persist for two weeks, the child will obviously “go on the road” when doing the application question, and will no longer guess the formula.
