Quarterly summaries are more frequent than annual summaries, and pay more attention to “short, accurate, and real”. This template + example clarifies the structure and writing of the quarterly summary, the full version of Word can be printed, and you can use it by filling in your own content.
Quarterly summary is the most common form of reporting for enterprises, with high frequency and real requirements. The most taboo part of writing a quarterly summary is to write a “reduced version” of the quarterly summary and an annual summary – a list of a bunch of processes with no focus.
I. Highlights of the quarterly summary
The quarterly summary answers three questions: what was done this quarter (results-oriented), how was it done (against targets), and what will be done next quarter (planned). The length is 1500-2500 words, highlighting “change” and “progress”.
2. Compare the results with the goal
There are quarterly goals at the start of the work. When writing the summary, it will be explained item by item against the goals: what are the goals, how much have been completed, where are the differences, and why. Persuasive results with a goal comparison are the most important for leaders and HR.
III. Highlights to be refined
What are the top 1-2 things to say this quarter? Resolving historical issues, innovating working methods, or exceeding metrics? Putting the highlights in a prominent position is much stronger than tiling.
IV. Questions and Plans to Echo
Have the issues written in last quarter’s summary been resolved this quarter? For the problems found in this quarter, there should be corresponding improvement measures in the plan for the next quarter. This “closed loop” approach is the highest level of reporting in the workplace.
