The third grade is a critical period in the beginning of the composition, from “writing” to “writing segments”. The training at the beginning of this 100-word essay allows the child to practice a complete sentence every day, accumulate materials, and transition to the entire essay effortlessly.
Third-grade composition is most afraid of “nothing to say”: given the topic, the child can’t write two sentences while sitting there for half a day. In fact, the problem lies in accumulating less and practicing less. Writing training is the “warm-up exercise” of the composition. Write the sentence smoothly and the paragraph will be smooth.
Writing Skills
- A complete sentence = who + where + what (+ result);
- Add an adjective: do not say “flower” to say “colorful flower”;
- Add a metaphor: don’t say “moon”, say “moon like a disk”;
- Mood: Say “I’m happy/sad” after the event.
Practice Schedule
Write 2-3 sentences a day. Requirements: the sentence is straightforward, punctuation is correct, and at least 10 words are required. Parents can play “sentence pick-up” with their children: you say the first half of the sentence, and the child picks up the second half. After completing this 100 questions, the child’s sentence expression ability will be significantly improved.
Composition Cohesion
After the sentence is proficient, guide the child to string 3-5 sentences into a paragraph: first write the time and place, then write the story, and finally write the mood and feelings. The third grade composition is about 200 words, and it is enough to write a paragraph that is smooth.
