Doing market research reports is a common task in the workplace: product establishment, event planning, and location selection must be investigated first. This document organizes the complete structure of the research report (background – methodology – data – analysis – conclusions and recommendations) and writing points, and can be written in a set of templates.
The value of market research reports is not in “research” but in “advice”: leaders look at “what to do next”, not a bunch of data. Therefore, when writing the report, the analysis and suggestions section needs to be worked on.
1. Data is the foundation, analysis is the soul
“60% of people choose to shop online” is just data; the analysis of “the decline in offline store traffic, the need to strengthen online operations” is the value. Each piece of data should be followed by the sentence “This means… therefore…”.
II. Charts make reporting more professional
No one wants to read the plain text report. Key data is presented in histograms, pie charts, line charts (both Word/Excel), and the reader captures the point at a glance. The chart is labeled with the data source.
III. Recommendations should be concrete and implementable
“Strengthen online promotion”; changed to “invest 3,000 yuan per month in the promotion of Xiaohongshu, the target monthly increase of 2,000 fans” before landing. Suggestions section is written as “What to do – How to do – Expected results”.
4. The research method should be clearly explained
The sample size, the questionnaire recovery rate, and the survey time determine the credibility of the report. The leader asks, “Where did this data come from?” If you can answer clearly.
