The volume of English words in the fifth grade has increased significantly, and spelling is the focus of the test. In the primary English examination, word spelling accounts for a considerable proportion: dictation, word selection, initials, writing. When words are misspelled, reading and writing are affected. This silent writing exercise is to help children turn off the spelling.
Word Memory Methods
- Natural spelling: spell words according to pronunciation (cat = c-a-t, spelled by phoneme);
- Classified memory: put food together, animals together;
- Make a memory: put the words into the sentence to remember (I like apples.);
- Repeatedly write silently: will not be considered to be able to write, must write.
Practice Schedule
Write 10 words silently every day, and copy the wrong copy 3 times and silently again. Retake this week’s wrong vocabulary for the weekend. The 100 questions cover the core English vocabulary of elementary school, and the basic word spelling is basically passed after completion.
Tips for parents
You can play a “word card” game with your child: parents speak Chinese and your child writes English, or English and your child writes Chinese. 10 minutes a day, much more effective than 50 at a time. Word spelling improved significantly after a month of persistence.
